Myriah & Clyde's Workout 9/28/13

Omg. What is that thing? A pedal for under the desk? 

We walked three miles to the Eat Real festival and then all over there. My knees are sore from wearing flip flops. Didn't know we were gonna have to walk. Last day of climbing at the gym tomorrow. Yikes. 

Oh we also walked to the market and back this morning. One mile each way. Maybe I see why my knees are sore. Gonna have to start wearing my sneakers no matter where we go. 

Ben's Recovery Day 9/28/13

Finally back home and ready for some good workouts next week. 

For my last day of the recovery week, I did a short WOD and then walked for 45 minutes.

WOD:

Ben's Recover Week Catch-up Post

I accepted my award and gave my presentation today. It went really well. I had several people come up to me the rest of the day to tell me they liked my presentation. I have been invited to talk at a few more things later in the year. 

Here's how my recovery week has been going since my last post:

Tuesday: Nothing. I worked for 12 hours.
Wednesday: Hockey. We won and I scored a few goals.
Thursday: Nothing. Drove to conference and attended session/ate bad food.
Friday: Went for a 4 mile run around Goat Island to check out the Falls. I should have taken my phone so I could snap some pics. Maybe I'll walk down there later.

The conference ends around lunch time tomorrow and then I'll be driving home. I'm really looking forward to some good workouts. This recovery week makes me feel blah. It also doesn't help that there is NOTHING around here for me to eat except pizza, paninis, or bad salads. The conference and my hotel is right next to the Falls and restaurant options are limited. I've had veggie paninis for the lunch the last two days, pizza last night for dinner (though it was really good - walnut pesto, fresh mozz, rapini, banana peppers). Tonight I had a huge bowl of fettuccini and vegetables. It's been months since I've had pasta and it was soooooo good. Except I feel too full and sick now. Not worth it.  

Probably watching Reunion tonight...

No car = no workout.

No car for about two weeks. What a life. Oh, plus we have to pay a $500 deductible out of pocket. Cool. Not cool. Annoyed. 

Gym not going to open until October 21st. Having outdoor classes everyday until then. Kind of feel like GSR at this point.

Debbie Downer today. And whether you think that's okay or not (C) I think I have a reason to be.

Myriah & Clyde's Workout 9/25/13

We decided instead of going to class we would rather get in a car accident. Neither of us have ever been in one so we figured, hey why not? Also, if we could choose the worst part of Oakland to get hit in that would be best.

Us just being at the right place at the right time. Stopped at a red light when an accident spins out of control and hits us.

This guy hit the son of a gun talking phonester. He took down a street sign too. Lucky he didn't take down the pole.





So that was fun. We missed our second to last class at bridges. So effing annoying. And don't even know if we will have a car by Monday for class. Ugh. I hate drivers. And oakland. And people who talk on their phones in cars. 

So happy everyone was okay (well especially C and I). Just a fat lip and broken neck/back...

Myriah & Clyde's Workout 9/24/13

Does it get annoying that I keep saying I cannot wait for the new gym? We went climbing tonight and there were so many people and I just couldn't handle it. We ended up climbing for only 30-45 minutes. Ugh. Cannot wait for new gymmmmmmmm.

Myriah & Clyde's WOD 9/23/13

So for some reason my blog from yesterday won't update. Clyde said he can see it but on my app it shows that it won't post. Really annoying. It keeps saying I don't have internet connection to post it. As long as you can see it then it's fine. I just added what Fran was but it is not having it.

Warm up:
75 jump rope
10 pull ups
20 push ups
30 sit ups
40 squats
75 jump rope 

WOD: 3 rounds 
10 man makers
400 meter run with weights 
10 HSPU

Myriah: 15:51 10# weights
Clyde: 16:32 15# weights 

So I blew everyone's time out of the water. The next closest time was Clyde's but then it started up in the mid 20s. Some even in the mid 30s. Brag brag brag. It was so much harder to run with two weights in my hand than I thought. It was a constant shoulder and forearm burn. A good overall workout though. We were all sweating like beasts. 

We are coming up with the WOD for our last day of class. Some input would be appreciated. So far we are thinking something like this:

Partner WOD: You must each do equal reps but it can be partitioned however you want. So if a move requires 150 reps, each partner must compete 75 by the end of it.

Buy in: 800m run 
150: ground to overhead 
120: 
90: hand release burpees 
60: box jumps 
30: HSPU

We are open to any suggestions. The only one we definitely will keep is the HSPU at 30. Somewhere Clyde wants a ground to overhead. Box jumps I can take them or leave them. We both wanted a T2B but there's only one bar so we would have to wait. We could possibly put up rings but it would still be people running back and forth so I don't know. It also has to be workouts people can do so we can't throw in something like pistols. Gonna make a list of specific excersices to narrow it down. Let us know what you think. 

Ben's "Recovery" Day 9/23/13

Day 2 of my recovery week. Probably a little much to be considered "recovery" but I had too much energy today not to do something (probably because I slept in until 7 and took an hour nap after lunch). Since it's a nice day out and I had most of the afternoon off from work, I decided to get out the barbell and do some work. I need to get better at squatting and this workout seems like a good way to do it with my limited weight options.

Warm-up:

Double-Under practice
Frog Stand practice
Handstand practice

Strength:

Barbell Complex 4 x 5 x (Cln + FS + PP + BS + PP + OHS) @ 65#

3 x 10 push-ups
3 x 10 sit-ups

Ben's Recovery Day 9/22/13

Day 1 of my recovery week. 

Frog stand practice
5 wall walks
Plank 2 minutes
Side plank left 1 minute
Side plank right 1 minute
20 kb swings
10 dumbbell thrusters 30#
60 bicycle crunches

Walk 45 minutes

Myriah & Clyde's WOD 9/22/13

Climbed for about 45 minutes to warm up. Forgot how much it can take out of your arms when you actually do some good routes. C was antsy so we moved on to Fran...

Did some jump roping before Fran. Then... C started.

Clyde: 5:05 #65
Myriah: 5:42 #45

Both had to wait for a few seconds to get on the pull up bar at one point. Also we have to keep the weights in the room then run to the pull up bar. I think altogether that would take off about 10-15 seconds. But I'm not bitter about it. Ya know? 

Feel bad about making Kartik do Fran with us. It's such a deceiving workout.

We did plank work after. Same as the part two days.
